PADI DISCOVER SCUBA DIVING

WHAT IS "PADI DISCOVER SCUBA DIVING"?

PADI’s Discover Scuba Diving experience (DSD) is an established program for people who want to try scuba diving. If you only want to try diving this once, you're short on time or money or you want to find out if you even like diving before commiting to a course, this is the right program for you. But even if you already know you want to become a certified diver your first course dive will be a DSD.

We sometimes refer to it also as a try dive, discovery dive or introduction dive, but we always mean the "PADI Discover Scuba Diving" experience, which has clear rules and regulations to ensure your safety.

HOW DOES A DSD WORK?

This is a half day program in which one of our experienced instructors will give you a detailed briefing in your preferred language (if available) to give you some information on what to expect on your adventure.

We conduct this program in small groups with a maximum ratio of 2 guests on 1 guide, meaning that you get all the attention you deserve to make your experience extra enjoyable.

You will start off in very shallow water with some exercises which are all designed to help you feel more comfortable underwater. Once these are complete you will continue on a beautiful, guided dive and explore the stunning bay.

The dive will take about 45 to 50 minutes and the maximum depth allowed by PADI is 12 m but we rarely go lower than 6 m during our introduction dives.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Every person who can swim and is at least 8 years old and medically fit can try scuba diving. Previous snorkel or diving experience are not needed!

For 8- and 9-year-old kids the official PADI program is called the PADI Bubblemaker program, which is basically like a DSD except that there's some extra safety precautions. For example kids under 10 only dive down to 2 m. If you want to book a first dive experience for your 8 or 9 year old kid just select our regular DSD program, we will automatically plan them in for the Bubblemaker program.

WHAT'S NEXT?

If you really loved the morning dive there is (depending on availability) the option to jump back into the water in the afternoon or directly continue for your entry-level diving course. This is possible because the Scuba Diver and Open Water Diver courses both start with an introduction dive as the 1st dive of the course.

Courses can only be joined by people aged 10 or older.

Please note, that the PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience does not give you any certification, so if you would want to dive again somewhere else, you would need to do a PADI Discover Scuba Diving program once more.
