Have you ever considered doing the PADI Rescue Diver course? We have 5 good reasons why you should sign up!
1. Become a more confident diver
The Rescue Diver is certainly not the easiest of all PADI courses. But from the very first day you will notice that you are capable of so much more than you expected. Nothing will make you feel more confident than being able to rely on your own skills and knowledge to keep yourself and your buddies safe. This course prepares you for all kinds of situations, and you’ll feel incredibly proud of yourself after successfully rescuing an “unresponsive” diver from the bottom of the sea, carrying them to shore and providing the correct primary and secondary care. It also gives you peace of mind that you can perform self-rescue skills, should your buddy ever be out of reach.

2. Become a better buddy
In your Rescue Diver training, you learn to catch small mistakes before they can snowball into a serious accident. So, if your buddy makes a mistake or has a gear malfunction you can respond calmly before the situation becomes dangerous. And if your buddy ever does end up having a dive accident, they will be grateful to have a trained Rescue Diver with them who can take charge and give them the best chance to recover from it.
3. Be one step closer to becoming a PADI Pro
If you dream of working as a professional diver one day, this course is a mandatory step along the way. It also gives you a little taste of taking on more responsibility as well as some of the safety checks, task loading and problem solving you’ll do once you’re a professional. What better way to figure out if you’d really enjoy this job?

4. Become a safer diver
This is obvious – if you know how to prevent accidents and handle emergencies, you and the people around you are a lot safer. As you learned in your Open Water Diver course, the number one objective of every dive is to get back safely. And while that course taught you skills like the CESA and how to deal with a free-flowing reg, the Rescue Diver really gets into detail on how to prevent and handle emergencies. It rewires your brain to Stop, Think and then Act, which helps you stay calm and act smart in any stressful situation.
5. It’s SO MUCH FUN!
A lot of people are nervous before their Rescue Diver course. You might not expect that from a course that is focused on the serious topic of preventing dive accidents and learning how to respond in an emergency; but ask anyone who’s done their Rescue Diver and they will tell you that it’s one of the most fun courses out there.
