Why The Mediterranean Sea Is The Perfect Place To Learn Scuba Diving

When you think about diving, you probably think about the Great Barrier Reef, The Maldives or Indonesia. And those places are great, for sure, but you don’t need to travel that far for incredible dives! We know the Mediterranean seems less …splashy than some other locations, but it has more to offer than you’d expect and it’s the perfect place to start your dive journey!

Proximity – why travel to the other side of the world when you’ve got a dive paradise right here, just a few hours away from home? No need to waste precious vacation time on long layovers in an airport when you can spend more time in the sea instead!

Calm conditions – we don’t have strong currents, so you can just relax underwater and get used to all the new sensations in your own pace rather than struggling against a current. Above water life is also calm, every dive school has its own special dive spots. You certainly won’t see 10 dive centers clamoring for a place in the same location.

Affordability – A lot of famous dive spots are incredibly expensive. Why pay for an overpriced dive resort in the Maldives if you’ll be too distracted by your foggy mask or your buoyancy struggles to notice the whale shark swimming by? Save those pricey locations for when you’re actually able to get the full experience!

Crystal clear water – Of course you could also learn to dive in your local club at home, but your local murky lake can’t compare to the incredible visibility you get in the Med – along all the cool wildlife you’ll see from day one.

Incredible food – You might not know it yet, but diving makes hungry and there’s no better place than Greece with its delicious gyros, tzatziki, halloumi pita and saganaki to satisfy those post-dive munchies!

Safe, pressure-free learning environment – We all know that sharks aren’t man-hunting monsters and want to dive with them – but it’s common sense that diving in a place with aquatic life that has the potential to really injure you requires a better awareness for your surroundings than diving with pufferfish. Same goes for fragile reefs where one misplaced fin kick immediately destroys corals. As a beginner diver, you are very focused on yourself, handling unfamiliar gear and figuring out your buoyancy and it will give you peace of mind knowing that you’re in an environment where it’s safe to take a moment to figure things out.

The Mediterranean Sea is a real gem with its breathtakingly gorgeous underwater landscapes and super cute wildlife. You will have some truly memorable first dives here while being in the comfort of a safe, calm learning environment. If you can’t wait to dive right in, sign up here.
